I found a very interesting article this week online in the Sunday Express regarding the UK Home Secretary Theresa May, and her diagnosis of Type 1 Diabetes in November 2012. It originated from an interview on Balance, a Diabetes UK magazine.

As November is Diabetes Awareness Month, and it is all about getting the facts right & knowing the differences between Type 1 & 2 Diabetes, I found this interview with Theresa May very interesting, as she too had fallen victim to many of the myths and misconceptions surrounding both types of diabetes before her diagnosis. She had attended her GP for what she thought was going to be treatment of a heavy cold. She admitted she had lost weight but put this down simply to running around from work. After the GP taking some blood samples it turned out that she had Type 1 Diabetes
