After 20 years of working with people with diabetes I never fail to be amazed at the amount of people who have little or no awareness of how the cooking process affects the sugar content of food and in in turn their blood glucose levels. This inspired me to establish cookery classes for people with diabetes, which has proven itself to be highly successful.
Such is my passion for getting the message out there in regards to the above and to meet demand, that from June 2016, Diabetes Insight is specialising in cookery classes for people with diabetes on an ongoing basis from its idyllic West Cork location. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
These classes are limited in size which makes for a more informal, interactive experience for participants. It also means the demand for these classes are high, and depending on the season, there can be a waiting list.
All classes begin with a tour of our kitchen gardens, depending on weather and season, fresh produce will be used from the gardens in our recipes.
This is followed by learning about the low glycaemic index and sample recipes from breakfast, right through to dinner will be cooked and sampled throughout the day. Participants can sit back and relax in our tranquil surroundings, enjoying a visual feast of ideas and tasters. We welcome spouses/partners to the classes at no additional cost.
Lunch and all materials included as well as HBA1c testing on request.
